Differences Between The Door Types “Not Stiles”
Screw SplineShear BlockTie Rod
Screw Spline: Screws are applied through the left and right door stiles into the top and bottom rails.
As screws are fastened this causes the left and right door stiles to pull tightly against the top and bottom rail of the door; in turn, secures all four sides of the door.
Shear Block: A block is fastened on the top and bottom of the left and right door stile. The top and bottom rails of the door rest
on this block and these rails are fastened tightly to the door stiles when screws are applied through the door stiles into the bottom and top rails.
Tie Rod: A rod with threads on both ends spans from the left and right door stile; while, at the same time spanning through the
middle of the top and bottom rails of the door. This rod is fasted on both ends with nuts and bolts causing the bottom and top rail to
fasten to the rails. Sometimes the door provider will choose to weld these nuts and bolts of the tie rod.
